Pure Pet Food Is Not Purepet

No, Pure Pet Food and Purepet are two completely separate companies. We understand why the confusion happens: the names are very similar, and if you've searched for us online, you may have come across information about Purepet, an Indian pet food brand, that has nothing to do with us. We wanted to set the record straight clearly, so you know exactly who you're dealing with when you choose Pure.

Two different companies, two different countries

Pure Pet Food is a UK-based company. We make gently dried dog food, made here in Yorkshire and we tailor our meal plans based on your individual dog's needs.

Purepet is an Indian pet food brand, associated with Pure Pet Private Limited and the IB Group, an Indian agribusiness group. It's sold through retail channels, supermarkets, pet stores and online marketplaces like Amazon India and Flipkart as a traditional dry kibble, wet food and treats range.

There is no connection between the two brands.

How the two differ

Pure Pet Food is based in the UK; Purepet is based in India. Our food is gently dried; whilst PurePet is dry extruded kibble. Our nutrition is tailored to your individual dog through calculated meal plans, whereas Purepet offers standard formulas. And where we focus on natural, personalised nutrition, Purepet's positioning is built around affordable, everyday feeding.

What Purepet actually offers

To be clear, we're not here to run down another brand, Purepet has its own place in the Indian market, competing with other value kibble brands like Pedigree rather than more natural offerings. It's positioned as an affordable, widely available, complete diet.

Like most economy kibbles, its recipes tend to rely more heavily on cereals (maize, wheat, rice) and use broader ingredient descriptions terms like "meat meal" or "poultry by-products" rather than naming a specific fresh protein source. That's standard for the value kibble category generally, not a criticism unique to Purepet, and it reflects a different price point and target market rather than a different standard of safety.

Why we're telling you this

If you've searched for Pure Pet Food and seen references to an Indian brand, vet criticism, or kibble ingredients that don't match anything we make, that's very likely because you're seeing information about Purepet, not us. We don't make dry kibble, we're not based in India, and we're not affiliated with Purepet or the IB Group in any way.

If you're comparing pet foods and want to know more about how our air-dried approach differs from traditional kibble generally, our Pure vs Royal Canin article covers that in detail.
