The Weekend Shift Manager role…
The weekend shift Manager will help assist the Head of Operations in coordinating and managing the warehousing, mixing, packaging, and dispatch functions within the factory throughout our weekend shift. This includes training, liaising with other key departments and Managers.
Duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- Responsible for H&S of the work environment, to help ensure the staff work in a safe manner and to report any unsafe practices or equipment.
- To assist managing labour and skills to maximise productivity and minimise cost and downtime.
- Produce accurate and timely reporting as requested on various subjects e.g., production, attendance, stocks etc.
- Completion of thorough handovers with outgoing/incoming Shift Supervisors and directing them to improve performance where required.
- To ensure that all products are produced to the specified quality, food safety standards and legal requirements, within the HACCP Plan and Food Safety Plan.
- To help keep all factory and warehouse areas in a clean and hygienic condition with excellent housekeeping standards.
- Using the Training Matrix to identify any training gaps, working with the Production Manager to propose or provide training.
- To communicate with, motivate, support and guide staff.
- To communicate performance feedback to staff, conduct 1-2-1 meeting
- To conduct formal Return to Work interviews with staff after absences, as required.
- To conduct Informal and Formal Investigation, meeting or disciplinaries if required
- To minimize waste of all types, including ingredients, packaging, products, power, time etc.
- To help conduct investigations as required in the event of accidents or customer complaints.
- To review or write Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures for equipment.
- To ensure micro sampling of ingredients and final products is carried out as required.
- To be directly involved in stock-takes as required by the Production Manager.
- To be a contact for service contractors such as DPD or ant Maintenance Contractors etc.
- To liaise closely with key inter-departmental contacts, especially Planning and NPD.
- To attend HACCP and Safety Meetings when requested.

Our qualification & experience expectations are:
- Ideally to hold some qualification in either management or supervision, but a long history of experience may well be deemed suitable.
- A minimum of two years working in a supervisory position within the food and drinks sector.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- An approachable, proactive, organized, manager with good communication skills.
- HACCP and/or Food Safety Level 2 or equivalent as a minimum. H & S (e.g., IOSH) advantageous. First Aider useful.
